DAY 88 OF 365

Day 88

Verse
“Your name will no longer be Jacob but Israel because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.”
Genesis 32:28 NIV
Story

Jacob’s new name marked a new identity. Scripture shows a man who wrestled not only with God but with himself. Jacob had spent his life grasping, deceiving, and striving.

At the river’s edge God confronted the man he was so He could reveal the man he would become. A man becomes transformed when God renames him. Not through flattery but through struggle.

The wrestling broke Jacob’s strength but awakened his destiny. Israel—one who struggles with God and overcomes—became the identity rooted in encounter, not deception. God shapes men through wrestlings that force honesty, humility, and surrender.

Jacob limped away but carried a blessing far greater than physical strength. Identity is forged in the places where God refuses to let a man remain who he used to be.

Prayer

Father, reshape my identity according to Your truth. Meet me in my struggles and transform me. Give me the strength to walk faithfully in the name You speak over me.
