“But when he saw the wind he was afraid and beginning to sink cried out Lord save me.”
Peter stepped onto the water with a courage most men never touch. But courage is tested by distraction. Scripture shows him shifting his gaze from Jesus to the wind, and in that moment fear pulled him under.
Yet the sinking did not define him. His cry did. Lord save me was all he could muster, and Jesus reached immediately.
A man’s failures do not disqualify him when his instinct is to reach for God. Peter learned that strength is not found in perfection but in dependence. The storm taught him where to anchor his eyes.
Jesus taught him where to anchor his confidence. A man becomes steady when he learns that sinking moments are not the end but the invitation to trust deeper.
Father, lift me when I begin to sink. Help me fix my focus on You. Strengthen my faith in every storm and teach me to cry out before I drown in fear.
