Peter’s recognition of Christ began with recognition of himself. Scripture shows him overwhelmed by holiness after the miraculous catch of fish. He saw his unworthiness clearly.
Jesus did not turn him away. He called him closer. A man becomes transformed when he stops hiding behind competence and admits his need for grace.
Peter’s confession became the foundation of his calling. Strength grows in the soil of humility. Jesus chooses men who know they are sinful because those men understand the weight of grace.
Peter learned that the distance he felt from Jesus was the very space Jesus intended to fill.
Father, humble my heart before You. Let Your grace transform my weakness. Draw me close even when I feel unworthy of Your presence.
