“Whoever wants to be My disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow Me.”
Jesus defines discipleship with clarity. Deny yourself. Carry your cross.
Follow Me. Scripture reveals that discipleship is not a comfortable decision. It is a costly one.
A man becomes transformed not by adding Jesus to his life but by surrendering his life to Jesus. Self denial is not self hatred. It is the refusal to let old desires dictate new direction.
The cross represents death to the parts of a man that resist God. Jesus knew that discipleship would cut deep, but He also knew it would lead to life. Following Him means giving up the illusion of control and embracing trust.
A man grows when he learns that surrender is the pathway to strength.
Father, teach me to deny myself for the sake of Christ. Give me strength to carry my cross daily. Lead me as I follow Jesus with wholehearted devotion.
