DAY 5 OF 365

Day 5

Verse
“He came to a broom bush sat down under it and prayed that he might die. I have had enough Lord he said.”
1 Kings 19:4 NIV
Story

Elijah’s collapse beneath the broom bush reminds us that even the strongest men break. Scripture does not hide his despair. The prophet who called down fire now begs for release.

God does not reject him. Instead, God meets him with rest. A man’s body breaks before his calling does.

Elijah had poured out more than his strength could sustain. His journey into the wilderness shows that isolation magnifies exhaustion. God responds not with rebuke but with tenderness.

Bread. Water. A quiet presence.

God restores men slowly, beginning with what their humanity requires. Elijah learns that God does not measure a man’s worth by his endurance but by his willingness to return after resting. Strength is restored in silence, not in striving.

God’s whisper carries more healing than His thunder. Elijah would rise again, but only after God rebuilt him from the inside out.

Prayer

Father, meet me in my fatigue. Restore what exhaustion has drained from me. Fill my spirit with the strength only You can give and quiet my heart in Your presence.
