“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”
Jesus spoke these words to His disciples in Gethsemane, the place where spiritual weight pressed heavily. Scripture shows that Jesus understood human weakness. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.
A man becomes strong when he accepts this truth rather than denies it. Watchfulness and prayer are not optional disciplines; they are safeguards. Jesus teaches that temptation does not overpower those who stay spiritually alert.
The disciples slept because they underestimated the battle. Jesus stayed awake because He understood it. A man who watches keeps his soul attentive.
A man who prays keeps his heart surrendered. Together, watching and praying form the shield that protects a man from spiritual collapse. Jesus reminds every man that strength is not found in good intentions but in active dependence on God.
Father, help me stay watchful in spirit. Keep my heart awake to Your voice. Strengthen me through prayer so temptation loses its power over me.
