“If you hold to My teaching, you are really My disciples.”
John 8:31 NIV
Jesus defines discipleship by endurance. Scripture reveals that following Him requires holding, not merely hearing. To hold means to continue, obey, and remain anchored in His word.
A man becomes a disciple when he refuses to release the teachings of Christ even when culture, emotion, or convenience challenge them. Jesus teaches that truth shapes those who hold it. Freedom flows from continued obedience.
A man learns that discipleship is not a moment of decision but a lifetime of devotion. Christ calls men not only to believe His words but to live them.
Father, help me hold firmly to the teachings of Christ. Strengthen my obedience and deepen my devotion. Make me a true disciple in character and action.
