“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed.”
Jeremiah writes these words in a book filled with grief, yet hope rises like a quiet flame. Scripture reveals that God’s love sustains men through seasons that threaten to overwhelm. Consumed means crushed, defeated, undone.
Yet Jeremiah declares that God’s love prevents collapse. A man becomes steady when he recognizes that God’s mercy outlasts his sorrow. Grief speaks loudly, but God’s love speaks deeper.
Jeremiah teaches that hope does not emerge from improved circumstances but from the constancy of God’s compassion. His mercies are new every morning. They meet a man exactly where he is—broken, exhausted, or weary—and lift him again.
A man stands not by his resilience but by God’s love.
Father, thank You for love that sustains me. Keep me from being consumed by the weight of life. Renew my strength with Your mercy each morning.
