DAY 1 OF 365

Day 1

Verse
“They took him and threw him into the cistern. The cistern was empty. There was no water in it.”
Genesis 37:24 NIV
Story

Joseph’s journey began not with celebration but with silence. Scripture shows him lowered into a place so empty the writer felt compelled to say it twice. Empty.

No water. Nothing to soften the fall. Joseph had dreamed of honor, but the pit introduced him to the reality that divine purpose often begins underground.

The cistern held darkness, but it also held the first shaping of a man who would learn to trust God when every support was removed. Men often enter seasons where the world feels stripped of comfort, certainty, and direction. Joseph’s story reminds us that emptiness does not mean abandonment.

God was not absent in the pit. He was planting Joseph in a place where faith would become deeper than circumstance. The absence of water was simply the absence of distraction.

Joseph had nothing except God, and sometimes that is where strength forms. A man who survives the pit becomes a man who can carry responsibility without losing himself. The pit was not the end.

It was the beginning of transformation.

Prayer

Father, meet me in the places that feel empty and unseen. Strengthen my faith in the seasons that feel stripped of comfort. Teach me to trust Your hand when I cannot understand Your process.
