“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”
Love is the soil where every other fruit grows. When Jesus summarized all commandments with love for God and neighbor, He revealed the secret of spiritual maturity: we become most like Him when we love most purely. The Spirit does not produce affection without direction; His love is holy, sacrificial, and obedient.
Israel’s covenant history shows that obedience without love leads to ritual, and love without obedience leads to rebellion. Only the Spirit unites both. True love costs—it always moves outward, even toward those who wound us.
This love was displayed at the cross, where God’s justice and mercy met. Every believer must choose daily whether to live from offense or overflow. Love that begins with gratitude for grace becomes unstoppable influence.
As John Maxwell teaches, “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” Spiritual leadership starts there: loving God completely and people sincerely.
Father, let Your love be the motive behind everything I do today. Remove pride and self-interest so that others see Christ through my actions. Amen.
Love is influence in its purest form—when you love well, you lead well.
