SEALED, NOT LEASED

Can a Christian Lose the Holy Spirit?

THUMBNAIL HOOK OWNED, NOT RENTED
OPENING HOOK
God did not give you the Holy Spirit on a month-to-month lease.
CENTRAL DOCTRINE

The Spirit's indwelling, seal, and guarantee.

TEACHING SPINE

Three movements.

  1. The Spirit is given as God's seal and guarantee of the believer's inheritance.
  2. Believers can grieve the Spirit, which assumes an ongoing covenant relationship rather than a casual rental.
  3. The Spirit testifies to adoption and actively forms the believer into Christlikeness.
KEEP THE BALANCE

What this teaching must not distort.

Do not turn the Spirit into an impersonal security stamp. He is the personal Holy Spirit who indwells, leads, convicts, comforts, and sanctifies.

LAND THE LINE
The seal is not permission to coast. It is assurance that you belong to God and are called to walk by His Spirit.
