EPISODE 10CONFRONTATION

CONFESSION DOESN'T RECRUCIFY JESUS

If Jesus Forgave All Your Sin, Why Confess It?

THUMBNAIL HOOK FORGIVEN. THEN WHY?
OPENING HOOK
If Jesus said "It is finished," why does the New Testament still tell Christians to confess sin?
CENTRAL DOCTRINE

Ongoing confession as fellowship, honesty, cleansing, and repentance within a secure relationship.

TEACHING SPINE

Three movements.

  1. Confession does not add another payment to Christ's sacrifice.
  2. Believers confess because sin disrupts fellowship, honesty, joy, and obedience.
  3. Confession agrees with God about sin and turns toward the cleansing already grounded in Christ.
KEEP THE BALANCE

What this teaching must not distort.

Do not imply confession is optional or that unrepentant sin is harmless. Distinguish the basis of forgiveness from the practice of fellowship.

LAND THE LINE
Confession does not finish the cross. It brings the believer back into the light of what Christ finished.
