“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
Solomon, a man known for wisdom, writes something that challenges the instincts of every man. Lean not on your own understanding. Scripture acknowledges the tension.
Men want to reason, calculate, explain, control. Yet trust requires surrender of what feels certain. Trust asks a man to place his weight on God instead of his conclusions.
Solomon learned that understanding cannot carry a man through seasons where God is shaping him. Trust does. To trust with all the heart means releasing the part of oneself that resists dependency.
God forms men when they stop relying on intellect alone and start relying on Him. Understanding has limits. God does not.
A man grows when he stops leaning on what he knows and starts leaning into who God is.
Father, teach me to trust You more than my own understanding. Guide my steps with Your wisdom. Help me lean fully into Your faithfulness.
