“Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit.”
2 Kings 2:9 NIV
Elisha asked boldly for spiritual inheritance from Elijah. Scripture reveals that hunger for God leads to greater spiritual capacity. Elisha desired more of God, not more of status.
A man becomes spiritually alive when he longs for deeper anointing. 2 Kings teaches that bold requests please God when they pursue His work. Elisha’s double portion represented devotion, persistence, and faith. A man learns that spiritual hunger is a sign of maturity.
God entrusts more to those who desire more of Him.
Father, increase my spiritual hunger. Give me a deeper measure of Your Spirit. Strengthen my desire to serve You wholeheartedly.
