“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”
Matthew 9:36 NIV
Compassion is love that sees and responds. Jesus noticed pain others ignored; His vision birthed action. The Spirit cultivates that same awareness in us so that indifference dies.
Gratitude opens our eyes—thankful people remember mercy and extend it. The church at Thyatira was commended for love and service; compassion was part of that strength. True leadership begins with noticing those God places in our path.
Compassion does not excuse sin; it seeks to heal it. Each time we stop for a wounded soul, we reenact the gospel’s heartbeat.
Lord, open my eyes to those who need Your touch today. Help me feel what You feel and move with kindness. Amen.
Leaders first learn to see before they are trusted to lead.
